In keeping with long-standing tradition, the season will open on December 7, 2026—the feast day of Milan’s patron saint, Saint Ambrose—with the customary gala premiere.
Opening production: Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Otello”. This masterpiece has not been staged for a La Scala season opening in two decades (since the 2004/2005 season).
Production: The new interpretation is directed by the renowned Damiano Michieletto.
Musical direction: Maestro Myung-Whun Chung makes his debut at the podium in his new role as music director.
Star-studded cast: The lead roles will be performed by Brian Jagde (Otello), Eleonora Buratto (Desdemona), and Luca Salsi (Iago).
